Spring Time Celebrations

April 14, 2011

Earth Day Festivities

A number of Earth Day Festivals are scheduled for this week. The weather should be lovely for spending a few hours outside to learn more about how to keep the planet clean and green.

Today, the Modesto Junior College Civic Engagement Project — Project Green hosts an Earth Day Celebration at the college’s East Campus. The festival takes place from 10:00am – 2:00pm, so hurry on down.

Earth Day at Yosemite National Park kicks off with family fun tonight at a 7:00pm gathering, but the celebration really begins tomorrow, continuing through the weekend and concluding on Earth Day’s official April 22nd date.

Graceada Park is once again going to be a busy spot on Saturday, April 16. Earth Day in the Park returns with many local vendors, clubs and organizations spreading the message that Earth Day is everyday.

Spring-y Egg Hunts

The thrill of the hunt! The excitement of discovery! Egg hunts are pure joy for children, and there is no shortage of them in our area.

Egg hunts taking place this weekend (April 16 and 17):

Funworks’ Eggstravaganza, where eggs are well-hidden and photo opportunities are numerous
The city of Patterson holds its annual Easter Egg Hunt in South Park
Local sorority Phi Sigma Sigma’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Cal State Stanislaus

Egg hunts being hosted next weekend (April 23 and 24):

Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Applegate Park, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Merced
Oakdale’s Kids Spring Fest & Safety Day features an egg hunt and more
Scenic Nursery in Modesto hosts a low-key Easter Eggstravaganza
Don old-fashioned Easter frocks and head to Columbia’s Victorian Easter Celebration
Go for the hunt, but stay all day to play at Fairytale Town’s Spring Eggstravaganza, in Sacramento’s Land Park
An entire evening of fun awaits in Galt at A Magical Place’s 2nd Annual Easter Eggstravaganza

Activities and events are always being added to the site, and we like to share our excitement over on Facebook and Twitter. Follow Miss Birdie and her flock as they travel the Central Valley throughout the season, bringing everyone the best of spring’s happenings.

What’s even better? YOU may share your own experiences at family friendly hot-spots or events; leave a review today!
